Every student gets a MyUMBC computer account. This is used to register for classes, communicate with professors by email, and allow access to the servers to work on class assignments.
CSEE maintains a separate account system on a subset of computers in the department. CSEE Graduate Students and Employees are allowed to have one CSEE computer account as part of their research within the department as long as affiliation with the University continues. Undergraduate students involved in a departmental approved research project is allowed to get an account for a single semester. Graduate Students get a special CSEE Graduate Student Orientation during orientation and every account holder should be familiar with the CSEE computing environment.
