Purpose

The UMBC Chess Club provides all members of the UMBC Community an opportunity to meet and play chess in an informal and friendly atmosphere. The club offers weekly meetings, instruction, coaching sessions, tournaments, simultaneous exhibitions, exhibition matches, and other special events for players of all experience levels. In addition, the Club organizes team competitions against other Universities and helps youth improve their scholastic skills through chess.
