Mobile phones have become a fundamental element of people's life. Individuals use themto call each other, browse websites, and send text messages. One of the most important and frequently used activity on cell phones is the search. Unlike search on desktops, the search on mobile phones suffer from several constraints: limited battery capacity, limited screen size, and limited outgoing bandwidth. However, retreiving search results require continuous use of energy hungry radios such as Wi-Fi and 3G.
In this work, we are building Powersearch, that uses personalized models to augment search queries such that the most relevant search results are retrieved --- leading to optimal usage of 3G bandwidth, battery power, and screen size.
