Many quotations have been (falsely) attributed to Mark Twain. One thing that Mr. Twain most assuredly did not say is,

When in the cause of great struggles, man shall overcome adversity and mount an effort which makes men great. Scott D. Nelson, 1995.

                       Proposed in HTML 4.0 spec

The following is a new method for denoting a blockquote that makes use of the Q tag (for short quotations). To contain a short quotation, such as To err is human, to forgive devine in the body of a paragraph, use the Q tag.

While this larger quote uses BLOCKQUOTE

Roll rocks down a 10,000 foot mountain and they cannot be stopped -- this is because of the mountain, not the rocks. Du Mu, advisor to the Chinese Imperial court, 900 A.D.

The LLNL WWW working group has numerous members including representatives from EE's DSED Division.

These items make use of the Cascading Style Sheet [4] (and the following should be indented by 10%):

This is centered using the <DIV> tag

This should be large blue bold italic Helvetica text

This should be underlined using internal style sheets

This should be underlined using an inline style

Here is some normal paragraph text. Some of it is in bright, bold, italic red.

This should be a note and should look different from regular text based on the definition in the external style sheet.

There are three types of style sheets:

  1. external style sheets,
  2. internal style sheets, and
  3. inline styles.

This table is actually being used to highlight a text phrase
NOTE: This is a table element used to highlight a phrase
and has, in general, a rather nice look. Hopefully, the NOTE tag will do this instead of having to kludge the table command this way.

This table shows alignment based on the '.' character
