DoD Information Assurance Scholarships to UMBC
We seek student applications from UMBC students
for work-for-study scholarships to UMBC under the
DoD Information Assurance (IA) Scholarship Program (IASP)

Benefits and Obligations:
Each recipient will receive full tuition, room and board,
books, and stipend ($10,000 undergraduates,
$15,000 graduate students). In return, the recipient must
work for DoD (for pay) for one year for year of scholarship.
Each recipient will also engage in a summer internship at
DoD (for pay).
Eligibility Requirements (selected):
- junior, senior, MS, or PhD student status in CMSC or related
field at UMBC (including IS, math, EE, CE)
- USA citizen
- willingness to obtain top-secret security clearance
Expectations:
We seek outstanding students with strong interest,
coursework, and other experience in IA. The program is highly
competitive (last year about 36 new scholarships were awarded
nationally, including one UMBC undergraduate). Among
other qualifications, we seek students with high SAT or
GRE test scores (preferably SAT > 1400), high GPA
(preferably over 3.7 on a 4-point scale), and strong letters
of recommendations from regular UMBC faculty.

Be sure to include all information required
( see http://www.defenselink.mil/nii/iasp ). This information includes
completed application forms, a resume, a summary of awards, letters of
reference and in particular, a competency statement. These
forms must be legible (therefore typed if at all possible), complete and
accurate. Please note, the competency statement is very important.
One hard original, two hard copies, and two soft CDs
in read-only format are required.
