CS-BS Focus Group Study Dear Computer Science student, The CSEE Department is undertaking a qualitative research study to better understand the Computer Science undergraduate student experience. I invite you to participate by taking part in a focus group discussion to discuss your experience at UMBC. Led by a trained focus group moderator, the discussion will last an hour and a half, and will take place on the UMBC campus. Light refreshments and pizza will be served. The meeting times of the groups are given below. There will be four groups, each having about 12 students. Please note that the session may be video- or audio-taped, but the tape will be used only by the moderator as reference in writing a report. Participant's anonymity will be assured, and analysis of the session will not attribute remarks to any particular person. If you would like to participate please complete the Focus Group Study form below and email it to Ms. Keara Burton at kburton@umbc.edu, by November 5, 2003. We will let you know about the participants of the focus groups by November 12, 2003. If you have any questions regarding this study, please email Dr. K. Kalpakis at kalpakis@csee.umbc.edu. Sincerely, K. Kalpakis, Ph.D. Associate Professor, CSEE BS CS Program Assessment Coordinator ______________________________________________________________________ Complete the form below, and email to Ms. Keara Burton at kburton@umbc.edu by November 5, 2003. ______________________________________________________________________ CS BS Program Focus Group Study Name :______________________________________________________ Email:______________________________________________________ Major:______________________________________________________ Number of total credits completed :____ Number of CMSC credits completed :____ Gender (M/F) :____ Are you a transfer student?
