  By popular request, here are the main programs being used to test your Project 4 and Project 5:

  • Project 4: p4main4.cpp, p4main5.cpp.
    (The second program, p4main5.cpp was used on projects that didn't implement PitStop.)

  • Project 5: p5main4.cpp.
    (Previously released p5main3.cpp was also used to check exception handling.)

  Here are two data structures visualizers I found:
  • Off Mike Goodrich's web site (Johns Hopkins): Animated Data Structures. You can play with regular binary search trees and AVL trees. This Java applet runs within your browser.
  • David Galles' program (University of San Francisco) is the one I showed in class: Data Structure Visualization. Follow the link for "Download" and download the Java ".jar" file.

  Additional test main programs are now available to help you check your Project 4: p4main2.cpp, output2.txt, p4main3.cpp and output3.txt. The second test program uses a much larger RaceCourse and has the goal in the middle of the RaceCourse. The third program derives Vampire from Car. If a Car bumps into a Vampire, all its fuel gets sucked out. Oh, and Vampires regenerate.

  Project 2 scores were sent out by email yesterday. For your information, here is the test program that was used to evaluate the correctness of your project and the sample output file: main4.cpp, output4.txt. Modest attempts were made to make the main program compatible with your code (e.g., some people renamed their header files, or changed GetRaceStatus() to GetStatus). So, this might not be the exact main program used.

  These two files are also available on the GL filesystem at:

  /afs/umbc.edu/users/c/h/chang/pub/cs202/proj2/

  The error file for your project will be sent out this evening.

  1. The remove member functions should deallocate the memory for the node that was removed.
  2. FirstInRow() and FirstInCol() should return Node pointers.

  Project 1 scores were sent out last night. This is a good time to review the Project Regrade Request Policy.

  If you believe you have a case for a regrade, these are the steps:

  1. Look over the grader's comments carefully. Make sure you understand what the comments mean. Look over the project description again --- you may have missed something.
  2. If you still believe you have a case, talk (in person) to your TA.

  Note that Step 2 means that you should NOT:

  • Send email to Ms. Dawn Block. She's helping us with the project submission mechanics but is not one of the graders and is not involved in regrades.
  • Send email to the course coordinator, Prof. Chang.
  • Send email to your TA. You need to make your case in person.

  You can of course send email to Prof. Chang or talk to Prof. Chang in his office hours about the course. However, if it is a regrade request, we ask that you speak to your TA first.

  For your information, here is the third input data used to evaluate your program: input3.txt, output3.txt.

  There was a power outage in the OIT computer room this morning that seriously affected CSEE computer systems. The web server is up and running, but mail services are not expected to restored before 5:00pm today.

  At this point it is not clear if email sent today is lost and have to be resent. Certainly, responses will be much delayed.
