       Most systems accept new disks on a standard peripheral bus called SCSI or IDE.

        Although most verdors have standardized on SCSI interfaces, they seem to have made a point of using proprietary commands to set up new disks. Accordingly, you should pay attention to a lot of vendor-specific details.
