The UMBC Chess Club presents Exhibition Chess Match: International Grandmaster Ilya J. Smirin (FIDE 2630) vs. Senior Master William ``the exterminator'' Morrison (USCF 2509) June 21-22, 1996 Lecture Hall II, UMBC See the players in person, while watching all moves projected onto a large screen via a computer-controlled autosensory board. Listen to live colorful move-by-move sports commentary via headsets by Senior Master Craig Jones and UMBC Chess Coach Igor Epshteyn. See the players' expressions closeup from large-screen video displays. Experience chess as an exciting spectator sport! Schedule: Friday, June 21 Rounds at 12noon and 6pm (Game in 2hrs) Saturday, June 22 Rounds at 1pm and 3pm (Game in 30mins) Admission is free. Everyone is welcome. Prizes: First-$800, second-$200. If, after round four, the score stands at 2-2, two additional games will be played at the rate of Game in 5mins. In the event of a 3-3 tie, all cash prizes will be split evenly. All games will be USCF rated, and National Tournament Director Robert Erkes will serve as arbiter. Directions: Take exit 47B off Interstate 95, and follow signs to UMBC. Park in lot 16, or anywhere along loop road. Lecture Hall II is in the Chemistry/Physics Building, located along the central walkway between the bookstore and the library.
