CMSC 691M Multimedia Networking

SURVEY Paper -- Due at the time of the project demo.


You are required to write a survey paper on any  topic that has been discussed in class. The survey paper should summarize the research in 5-10 papers on a particular topic. You should also include your own commentary on the significance of the approach and the solutions presented in each paper. You might even include a discussion on future research directions. Everything you write in this survey paper has to be in your own words. All ideas, paraphrases of other people's words must be correctly attributed in the body of the paper and in the references. Take a look at the IEEE definition for plagiarism. Any evidence of it in the survey paper will result in a fail grade.

Look to the papers (6, 10, 12, 14) for guidance on style, content and format

Typically survey papers are about 6 pages long. You may include illustrative pictures and tables.

Evaluation criteria:
       relevance to multimedia networking
       title/abstract okay
       provides motivation (problem significance)
       bibliography adequacy (number and quality of references)
       technical depth (too technical, too shallow?)
       technical content
       clarity, structure, style
       spelling, grammar, English
       typos
