PhD Candidates

UMBC lecturer and PhD candidate Susan Mitchell at UMBC's dissertation house.

Graduate students in the Ph.D. program become Doctoral candidates once they have completed all of their course work, satisfied their portfolio requirements, and successfully passed their preliminary examination.  This examination involves presenting a detailed proposal for their dissertation research, describing preliminary work and results, and demonstrating the necessary knowledge and skills to complete the project.  Once a student is a candidate, all that remains is finishing and defending the dissertation.  here is a list of the current CSEE candidates for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
