Accreditation

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science  program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET (111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD  21202-4012, telephone:  (410) 347-7700).

 

Note: Educational objectives are our expectations regarding the performance of the graduates of the computer science B.S. program approximately three to five years after graduation. Program outcomes are the knowledge and skills acquired by our students upon graduation.


 

Educational Objectives

The educational objectives for the computer science BS program are:

(E1) the graduates will be making valuable contributions in the information technology work force and will be advancing in their careers;
 
(E2) the graduates will have successfully adapted to changes in the field of computer science;
 
(E3) the graduates who were admitted to advanced degree programs were successful or are succeeding in those programs.

Program Outcomes

By the time of graduation, students in the Computer Science program will:

(O1): Software Solutions
be proficient in at least one high-level programming language and have an ability to analyze, design, and implement software solutions in a variety of settings;
 
(O2): Communication
have practiced, and have an ability to use, written and oral communication skills necessary to be effective in the IT industry;
 
(O3): Techniques & Tools
have gained familiarity with state-of-the-art programming techniques, tools, and practices;
 
(O4): Maintain Currency
recognize the need to maintain currency with future changes in the computing profession;
 
(O5): Foundation + Breadth
have gained a solid foundation in the fundamental areas of computer science – which are algorithms, systems, and software — and exposure to multiple sub-disciplines of computer science.
