Research Opportunities

We are a research department and offer many opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students to get involved with research.  

Students in our MS programs are required to do a MS thesis or MS project supervised by a faculty member, and dissertation research is the most important part of our Ph.D. programs.  Undergraduate majors in the UMBC Honors College must do a Honors thesis with a faculty member, typically in their senior year.

 

The department has regular research talks that are open to all students and expose them to state of the art research, both here at UMBC and elsewhere and many of our research labs have weekly open lab meetings that interested undergraduates are welcome to attend.
