INFORMATION SUPERHIGHWAY RESEARCH

ANSA is a research programme sponsored by major computer and
telecommunications corporations, based in Cambridge, UK.

ANSA's mission is to develop innovative concepts and products in
distributed systems technology and applications. Operating at the very
forefront of distributed object computing, ANSA is recruiting two new
research groups to push back the frontiers of knowledge in areas which
include

* using distributed object computing to build and manage dependable,
high perormance information services

* programming environment,operating system and network frameworks for
interactive multi-media objects

* strategiesi for broking information services, indexing distributed
information, building agents for information handling in business
processes.

We seek recent postgraduates or graduates with no more than two/three
years experience. You will be a self-starter who wishes to be in a
position where you can influence research, rather than be a follower.
Your experience will include at least two of the following:

computer interfaces to, and management of broadband networks (e.g.
ATM); real-tme and quality of service management techniques for
distributed systems; distributed interactive multi-media applications;
intelligent agents; intelisense for CSCW, observers for information
networks, data mining; engineering dependable applications (e.g. using
transaction, replication and security services); distributed object
computing using ANSAware, CORBA or a distributed operating system;
modern operating systems e.g. Windows/NT, Chorus, Mach, etc; advanced
use of an object-orientated language and associated tools (C++,
Smalltalk, Eiffel, Modula 3) in a project environment; rapid
prototyping of large systems using, for example: tcl/tk, Python,
Distributed Smalltalk; World Wide Web technology (www).
