• Feb 3: Security Framework, Attack Types, Cryptographic algorithms classification and characteristics

• Feb 8: Symmetric encryption algorithms: Block Cipher Modes, Summary of DES, AES, Blowfish, RC5, 3DES.

  Chapters 1, 3, 5, and 6 covered -- omitting cryptographic algorithm details (you can learn that in CMSC 443).

• Feb 10: Chapter 7 (excl. 7.4); Intro to Public-Key Encryption (Sections 9.1 and 9.2) -- omitting algorithm implementation details

• Feb 15 and Feb 17: Chapter 10 (Section 10.1 and 10.2)
• Feb. 22 and 24: Chapters 11 and 12; Omit details of MD5, SHA, RIPEMD algorithms.
